At 11:40PM last Monday, November 7th, one or more actors shattered a glass door to the entrance of the Cricket Wireless storefront at the Park Avenue Plaza in Vernon Township, Crawford County. Police believe it was a burglary attempt and have been informed of a gray Kia Soul that was seen nearby with an open hatch at the time of the crime. Anybody who may have information should call the Pennsylvania State Police in Meadville at (814)332-6911.

The Reindeer Races are off at the Stateside Laundromat in Meadville. The Reindeer Races will help fund the annual Jimmy Moore Christmas Party which provides Christmas Joy to Children and Families in Crawford County. All money collected from 12 specially marked machines until November 28th will be donated toward the party and that donation will be matched by one of the race’s 12 cosponsors.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has its first female Senate President. Republican Kim Ward of Westmoreland County was selected by her party as President Pro Tempore. Senator Ward was also the first woman to be selected as Majority Leader of the Senate. Senator Joe Pitman was selected to be the new Majority Leader. Neither party has selected leadership for the House as some elections are not yet decided and a clear majority has not been determined.
