The City of Franklin’s 39th Applefest begins today and runs through the entire weekend. Applefest has grown from humble beginnings into a major celebration that covers the entirety of downtown Franklin, drawing visitors from near and far. Celebrations begin early today with an apple pancake breakfast at St. Patrick’s School which starts at 6AM and events will run from sun up to sun down all weekend long. In State News, an arrest has been made in connection to the September 24th shooting that happened in Kennywood Park. 15-year-old Darryl Pirl is one of the suspected shooters and is now charged as an adult with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment; another teenage boy is being sought by authorities. Three people, including Pirl, were injured when he and another teenage boy began shooting after a fight broke out; anyone with information is urged to call 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477).
