A traffic study of 36 roundabouts in Pennsylvania including ones in Crawford, Erie, and Mercer Counties has shown a decrease in traffic accidents and a significant decrease in traffic injuries from accidents. The study was performed by reviewing police reports of traffic accidents for three years before, and three years after the installation of the roundabouts; it found a 9% decrease in total crashes, a 76% decrease in serious injuries, a 22% decrease in minor injuries, and a 70% decrease in injuries overall. Roundabouts from this study in our district include the intersections of Routes 6/19 and 198 in Crawford County, Routes 19 and 97 in Erie County, and Route 718 and Connelly Boulevard in Mercer County.
