A car crash in Mercer County just before midnight on Saturday left one dead and two others injured. Crash scene investigators say Michael Miller of Greenville is deceased after his SUV collided head-on with a pickup truck along Mercer Road in Delaware Township. The driver of the pickup was airlifted to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio for treatment of serious injuries; she had one passenger who reported minor injuries but did not get medical transport.

On Friday, the City Manager of Meadville announced that mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus have been discovered within city limits. The mosquitoes were discovered in the area of Linden Street and French Creek Parkway near the water treatment plant and De Arment Park. Residents are urged to reduce their exposure by applying insect repellent and/or minimizing areas of exposed skin and eliminate areas of standing water where mosquitoes breed. The city will be taking larvicidal actions and conducting additional surveillance. 

The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a burglary in Oakland Township, Venango County in which power tools and multiple firearms were stolen from a home on Highway 417. The burglary happened in the month of August and six weapons including shotguns, rifles, pistols, and a muzzle loader were all stolen from the property. Easily identifiable weapons include a 12 gauge Remington Shotgun and a .22 Beretta pistol. Anyone with information should call the Pennsylvania State Police in Franklin at (814)676-6596.

Attorneys representing Pennsylvania Senator and Gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano filed a suit against the United States Congress’s January 6th Committee on Thursday attempting to argue that it cannot compel him to testify by subpoena. Mastriano’s reasoning according to Politico is that Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are not consistent with the ideologies of the Republican party and without any properly appointed Republicans on the committee, they have no right to compel witnesses.
