Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection has filed a petition against the management of Raccoon Refuse in Crawford County Magisterial Court. Last Wednesday the DEP gave the owner of Raccoon Refuse, Ernest Sell, 48 hours notice to begin removing trash from their transfer facility in Spartansburg. On Monday the DEP announced it was petitioning the County Court to make Sell comply after no action was allegedly taken. Raccoon Refuse closed its doors on short notice last Monday and reportedly left more than 15,000 customers and multiple municipalities without garbage service; at press time there had still been no public statements about the closing of the transfer facility by Mr. Sell nor any member of the management team. Customers who paid for Raccoon Refuse services online using TrashBilling.com may be able to receive a refund by calling their phone from 9-5 Monday through Friday at (802)560-3595.
