An 82-year-old Franklin resident was hospitalized when his ATV was struck by an SUV last Thursday. Crash scene investigators say John Best was driving a Polaris Ranger across Bredinsburg Road in Cranberry Township, Venango County, but failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was hit by an SUV. Best was taken to UPMC Northwest and then airlifted to a hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of his injuries.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is looking for student ambassadors to help organize litter cleanup programs in their communities. Some rescue personnel from Pennsylvania have arrived to help in Kentucky.  A member of Task Force One Urban Search and rescue has been sent to serve as a planner with a federal search and rescue team, and volunteers from the Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania are providing humanitarian relief in flood-stricken regions. Members of the Pennsylvania Task Force are ready to respond to an official call of aid from Kentucky if requested. Large areas of southeast Kentucky and western Virginia are suffering from major flooding.
