Yesterday, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced a $4.25 billion settlement had been reached with the drug manufacturer Teva. Teva is another major manufacturer of opioids that marketed its products to doctors, patients, and pharmacists in a deceptive manner which oversold their effectiveness while understating their addictive qualities. The $4.35 billion settlement will be paid out over a period of 13 years. Shapiro led a coalition of Attorneys General from 11 states in the negotiations.
Earlier yesterday, Shapiro also announced that Pennsylvania will receive a bit more than $2.5 million from Wawa over a 2019 data breach. Wawa is paying out about $8 million to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland
