In Crawford County, the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the theft of dozens of knives from a storage locker in West Meade Township. According to investigators, the theft was discovered at about 11:30 on Monday morning; the thief or thieves cut a lock off of the unit and made off with about 70 knives; no description of the blades that were stolen was provided.

Route 6 in Wayne Township, Erie County, has been reopened after the construction of a temporary river crossing was finished. Route 6 was closed south of Corry Auto Dealers Exchange after a bridge crossing Baskin’s run was damaged by flood water from a severe storm in May. A new temporary crossing has been constructed so that traffic may flow once more while crews demolish and replace the permanent structure.

Bryan Cutler is Pennsylvania’s Speaker of the House and on Monday he announced the five members of the Select Committee on Restoring Law and Order. The committee includes three Republicans and two Democrats, has the power to issue subpoenas, and is tasked with investigating rising crime rates in Philadelphia with a focus on the city’s District Attorney. The committee will be chaired by John Lawrence of Chester and Lancaster County who is joined by fellow Republicans Wendit Thomas of Bucks County and Torren Ecker of Adams and Cumberland Counties; Democrats Amen Brown and Danilo Burgos both represent districts in Philadelphia and were also selected for the committee.
