Authorities say a 26-year-old Evan’s City man survived driving off of a cliff in Venango County last Friday evening. The man, whose name was not revealed, was traveling north on Route 8 in Sandycreek Township when he apparently swerved his suburban off the road, drove about 400 feet, struck several trees and went airborne over a cliff, hit several more trees, and landed. The driver refused medical treatment, had no apparent injuries and was arrested for DUI.

PennDOT plans to do overnight paving on a stretch of Route 19 in Mercer Boro. On Tuesday, June 21st work to pave a stretch of the road between South Street and Coolspring Street begins at 8PM and is scheduled to be over by 6AM Wednesday morning. Pennsylvania’s Department of Labor and Industry released its unemployment statistics for May. Unemployment is 4.6%, barely changed from last month, and down 0.2% from this time last year. Labor and Industry Secretary Jenniffer Berrier says it’s the lowest unemployment in the state since 2019. An estimated 30,000 Pennsylvania residents either began working or looking for work in May.
