A super load will be passing through Meadville this afternoon disrupting traffic as it makes its way to the Western New York and Pennsylvania’s rail yard be transported by train. The load is an electrical substation transformer some 137 feet long and weighing nearly 130 tons; it will enter Meadville from Washington Street once it arrives from Kennerdell and make its way at no more than the pace of a brisk walk along State Street and North Street before traveling along the length of Park Avenue and then transfer up Linden Street to South Main and merge with Route 322. Unfortunately a specific time table can not be kept for the load’s arrival, but it will be accompanied by flaggers and other vehicles on its journey and possibly take more than an hour to pass through town. Other dates that were reported as set for super loads are alternates in case of delays; those dates are all Wednesdays, April 13th, April 20th, April 27th, and May 4th.
