Mercer County authorities report a 22 year old Freedonia man is dead after a car crash in Lake Township. Crash scene investigators did not release the name of the man, but they did reveal the cause of death to be a gunshot wound; the wound is apparently self inflicted and happened immediately after the crash. The Pennsylvania State Police are still investigating.

Meadville Medical Center’s next COVID-19 vaccine clinic is one week from now on Friday, February 18th from 10AM to 1PM at the old Meadville City Building on 984 Water Street. The clinic will provide first and second shots of the Pfizer vaccine for adults and children as young as five years old as well as vaccine boosters for anybody who qualifies. Earlier this week Governor Tom Wolf signed several bills into law, but vetoed House Bill 979. HB 979 would have allowed residents of Pennsylvania’s many municipalities to file lawsuits against their townships or counties to challenge local firearm ordinances and rewrite Pennsylvania’s municipal code to say that only the General Assembly may regulate firearms. The Governor called it an attack on local governance.
