In Erie County a Cranesville man has been hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his head. At press time the wounded man was in critical condition at UPMC Hamot in Erie. Police are investigating the scene of the shooting and preliminary evidence suggests an attempt at suicide.

In Greenville, the Mercer County State Police have charged an adult at George Junior Republic’s inpatient mental health ward with aggravated assault and other crimes. The 31 year old woman was determined to be an imminent threat to herself and others so State Troopers were dispatched to take her to a hospital for an evaluation, but she allegedly became combative and began to attack the staff and police when they arrived.

In State News; on Friday a commonwealth court panel cast Pennsylvania’s vote by mail law in doubt with a 3-2 decision that it is unconstitutional. Governor Tom Wolf and Attorney General Josh Shapiro filed an immediate appeal of the decision with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Pennsylvania’s mail in voting law was passed by unanimous consent in 2019 and became a hot button issue after the presidential race in 2020, 11 members of the state legislature launched a suite to repeal the law last year. 10 of them voted for it, including Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman who says he has no confidence in the law.
