Criminal charges were filed against a Saegertown man as the result of a single vehicle crash. Crawford County authorities have charged Julian Ortega with DUI and summary offenses for a single car crash at about 3AM on January the 9th. Crash scene investigators say that after disabling his vehicle on Route 198 Ortega left the crash scene and was found on foot heading north on Route 98 with injuries to his face and ear.

Franklin on Ice is only one week from Saturday on February 5th. Sponsored by the Franklin Fine Arts Council (FFAC), Franklin on Ice is a festive way to kick off the year, featuring dozens of ice sculptures at Fountain Park in downtown Franklin including a return of some previous years’ favorites like a children’s slide carved entirely from ice. The celebration starts at 10AM and will include special events and sales at many downtown stores and businesses as well.
Funding for the FFAC come from multiple sponsors, many of which will be participating in fundraisers during next Saturday’s event; Pastries by Andrea will donate $1 from each pepperoni roll sold, Fox’s Pizza Den is donating 10% of every meal purchased by a customer who mentions Franklin on Ice, and Tickle my Ribs is donating $1 for each bowl of BBQ Chicken Soup sold during the festival.

In State News: Governor Tom Wolf made due on his promise to veto the Congressional Redistricting map passed by the General Assembly. In his veto message Governor Wolf called it a map selected by politicians trying to choose their own voters.
