Two Pennsylvania State Police Troopers are on administrative leave after an officer involved shooting in Hayfield Township, Crawford County. An armed 22 year old man was wounded by troopers that were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Birch Drive in a trailer court near the Saegertown school campus on the evening of Sunday, December 26th at about 7:15PM. Just before leaving for holiday recess the Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted for several proposed constitutional amendments to change elections, and give the legislature more control over powers constitutionally delegated to the governor. The four proposed amendments need to be passed by the legislature twice and then voted on by statewide referendum. Every amendment was proposed by Republicans and they include:
An amendment that would require voters to present ID prior to voting regardless of voting method authored by Rep. Jeff Wheeland of Lycoming County; an amendment requiring the general assembly to pass a law to provide for election audits authored by Rep. Dawn Keefer of York County; an amendment that limits executive orders to lasting only 21 days unless extended by a resolution from the General Assembly authored by Rep. Paul Schemel of Franklin County; and to give the General Assembly to disapprove of a regulation without the Governor’s approval.
