A 49 year old Oil City Man was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly assaulting and threatening a woman with a rifle. According to the Pennsylvania State Police the man, whose name was withheld in the press release, grabbed the woman by her mouth and displayed a rifle while threatening her. He is remanded to Venango County Jail without an option for bail and has been charged with harassment by physical contact, simple assault, illegal possession of a firearm, and more.

Meadville celebrates December’s First Friday and its Christmas tree lighting with a day full of events in Downtown and Diamond Park today. A variety of events and activities will be taking place along Chestnut Street, as well as displays of ice sculptures, and several stores will help you send letters to Santa Claus; please address the letters SANTA CLAUSE, NORTH POLE  and include postage. Light Up Night begins in the Diamond Park when the sun goes down at 5:30 and will include Christmas music, cookies and coco, and a visit from Santa himself who will light up the tree at the gazebo by 6 o’clock.


The four candidates for Pennsylvania’s 2022 River of the Year include French Creek. The other three candidates are the Monongahela River, Catawissa Creek, and Connoquenessing Creek.
