Details on a high speed chase through northern and central Crawford County on Saturday night have been released by the Pennsylvania State Police based in Corry. Two Ohio residents, Michael Smith of Windsor and Amanda Griffith of Orwell were both arrested after the chase that began in Athens Township and ended near downtown Meadville when a state trooper successfully executed a PIT maneuver and disabled their vehicle at the intersection of Route 19 and Mercer Street. The pair lead police along Route 77, Gravel Run Road, Highway 408, and SR 86.

Tomorrow evening after Thanksgiving Dinner the town of Conneaut Lake will have its light up night for its Trees of Light, the 20 foot tall flagpole trees that dot the lake and the town. Starting on Friday, November 26th the Barbara J paddleboat will be offering public tours to see the lights around the lake.

The day before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year and AAA expects that this holiday will see comparable traffic to before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pennsylvania State Police will be out in force in marked and unmarked vehicles to ensure travel throughout the state will be as safe as possible. PA State Troopers will be on the lookout for aggressive, impaired, and distracted drivers; as well as more minor violations like seatbelts.
