A Crawford County woman has been charged with homicide in the death of her 11 year old adopted son after authorities detected an unspecified toxin in the victim’s blood. Mary Eileen Diehl was arrested yesterday and formally charged with homicide in the death of Najir (Nahr) Diehl, an 11 year old boy who was found dead in his bed at home on Mallard Road in East Fallowfield Township on Saturday, November 6th. Mary Diehl has been remitted to Crawford County Jail while authorities continue to investigate.
The Pennsylvania State Police are upping enforcement on seatbelt wearing as part of The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s annual Click It or Ticket initiative which starts on Monday, November 15th and runs until the 28th. Most fatalities related to crashes involve the improper use of or a failure to use a seatbelt or child safety seat and the Thanksgiving Holiday is among the busiest travel seasons in the year. There will also be a free child safety seat check at The City of Franklin Police Department on Tuesday, November 16th from 3 to 7 PM.
Governor Tom Wolf and Acting Health Secretary Allison Beam have announced an end to the statewide in school mask mandate will come on January 17th of next year. After January 17th, 2022 school districts will once again have the power to decide whether their schools will require masks. Child care providers and early learning programs will still be required to mandate masks for staff until further notice.
