A Shippenville woman has died after a crash at the intersection of Big Egypt and Bredinsburg Roads in Cranberry Township, Venango County. Julie Ditty was killed by injuries sustained in a three car crash which happened at about 6AM Tuesday morning, shortly after she was involved in another collision which had disabled her vehicle. Firefighters from Seneca Volunteer Fire Department had to remove her from her vehicle and she succumbed to her injuries at UPMC Northwest. Another woman named Margo Lewis was also transported to UPMC Northwest.

Applications for utilities assistance through LIHEAP are now open to Pennsylvania residents who need help warming their homes through winter. Last year 303,000 Pennsylvania families benefited from the LIHEAP Program which provided $85 million in benefits to keep the heat on; apply online or at your county assistance office. LIHEAP requirements are different this year because of excess funds from the American Rescue Plan.

The Pennsylvania State Senate overwhelmingly supported SB 157 yesterday; voting in favor of a measure which would create first-time home buyer savings accounts for Pennsylvania Residents. First-time home buyers have become rare in PA since the 2009 financial crisis and the savings accounts are intended to help renters save enough money to afford to make a down payment on their first house purchase. The bill passed by a margin of 46 to 3 with one abstained.
