Two Saegertown residents were arrested after a stolen dirt bike showed up on the Facebook marketplace. The two unnamed men, 18 and 19 years old, are charged with receiving stolen property when their Facebook accounts were traced back to a posting showing the bike for sale in Venango County. The property has been returned to its owner and authorities are still investigating the theft.

Edinboro, Clarion, and California Universities will begin to go under a new name as the three of them officially merge in July next year. Pennsylvania Western University, or Pennwest for short, was the name approved by the PASSHE board of Governors at their meeting yesterday. Even though all three universities will fall under the Pennwest name they will keep their individual identities, including campus names, mascots, and branding.

Five high school students from the Northwest Pennsylvania region have been awarded $1,000 Patrick R. Locco Scholarships from the Manufacturing and business association. This year’s winners are Max Rimdzius of Corry Area Career & Technical Center; Lisa Prenatt of Crawford County Career & Technical Center; Nolan Benedic of Erie High School; Trevor Johnstonof Erie County Technical School; and, Anthony Trontel of Mercer County Career Center.The Patrick R. Locco Scholarships were originally called the Golden Watch Awards and have been awarded since 1973 and were renamed in honor of the late MBA Vice President who conceived of the Scholarship.
