A 41 year old man is in Mercer County Prison after allegedly strangling his wife until she went limp. Authorities report that the man, whose name has not been revealed, is accused of putting her on the ground by slapping, pulling her hair, and pushing her, and then putting his closed fist against her throat until she went unconscious. The assault was preceded by an argument after her discovery of his account on a dating app.

Pennsylvania’s Current Attorney General, Josh Shapiro, officially announced his candidacy for Governor yesterday. The announcement was made at an event in Pittsburgh and in declaring his intent, Shapiro is the first Democrat to enter the Governor’s race. So far six Republicans have declared intent to run for governor with more expected. During his announcement Shapiro discussed some of his biggest achievements as the Attorney General, including a successful suit against the Catholic Church to get restitution for victims of sexual abuse by clergy and exposing predator priests within the church’s ranks.

PennDOT is set to begin testing on a new road surface mixture in a Delaware County state park. The mixture contains a combination of recycled plastic and asphalt and will be evaluated over five years. The new surface will be tested in two ¼ mile segments alongside a typical asphalt roadway.
