An early October crash in Sugar Grove resulted in the death of a Warren County woman last Friday. Crash scene investigators say 58 year old Donna Eckstrom was killed when the vehicle she was a passenger in collided with a concrete wall at the intersection of Warren Road and Main Street at about 5AM on Friday October 1st. The car’s driver, an 80 year old woman, was transported by emergycare to an undisclosed hospital for suspected serious injuries. According to the Pennsylvania State Police the driver failed to stop at the sign posted on the T intersection of the two roads.

Conneaut Lake’s Fall tradition, the 30th annual Pumpkin Fest, begins today and runs through the entire weekend. Pumpkin Fest kicks off today from 2PM to 7PM and opens again 10AM to 7PM on Saturday and 10AM to 5PM on Sunday. A mail carrier for USPS was shot and killed while on his delivery route near Pittsburgh. 58 year old Louis Vignone was shot in Collier Township, Allegheny county at about 10:15 Thursday morning. The police say a 53 year old man named Eric Kortz turned himself in for the crime a short time later. It is being reported that Kortz was once the victim’s neighbor and he believed that Louis had poisoned him and his family. 

As of 6:30AM this morning Crawford County’s 911 system is experiencing technical difficulties that are having an adverse effect on service. An EAS alert sent out this morning informed residents of the technical issues. 911 operators are unable to hear callers, but callers can hear the operators, when this happens the 911 operator will inform the caller to  hang up and then the operator will call back which works normally. The disruption is affecting both cellular and landline phone calls.
