Authorities were able to quickly track down a missing woman in McKean Township, Erie County on Tuesday. The woman, whose name was not revealed, suffers from mental health issues and when her clothing had been found by a pond she was immediately considered a missing and endangered person. She was found in a wooded area about a mile away from her home by 9:30 that night.
Two members of the Pennsylvania State Police have been arrested and a third charged with crimes in September; the three trooper’s alleged illicit activities were not related to one another and each was in a separate troop and graduation class. All three troopers are suspended without pay until the proceedings around their individual criminal trials are completed.
On September 15th Trooper Jahmal Simon of PSP Mercer was arrested for crimes related to forgery and tampering with records; it is alleged that Trooper Simon altered his orders from the Air National Guard and forged the signature of his superior.
On September 23rd Trooper Nickolas Elliot of PSP Kittanning was cited for harassment after an alleged inappropriate use of force from earlier in the year.
On September 27th Trooper Dustin Schumacher of PSP Bell Vernon was arrested and charged with multiple crimes including aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct for an incident that happened while off duty; at press time Trooper Schumacher is lodged in Washington County Jail on $5,000 bail.
68% of eligible Pennsylvania Residents are now vaccinated against COVID-19 and health officials are continuing to promote vaccines against the disease. More than 1,425,000 cases of the disease have been confirmed in the commonwealth since the Pandemic began and it has killed at least 29,323 people which makes it among the most common causes of death for adults in the state.
