As part of National Child Passenger Safety Week, the Pennsylvania State Police in Venango and Clarion Counties are each holding a free child safety seat checking event. In Clarion County the event is being held from 2PM to 7PM at Clarion Ford; Venango County’s is being held from 3PM to 8PM at Rocky Grove Fire Department. At both events certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be able to answer your questions and perform checks on the proper installation of child safety equipment.

Edinboro University has announced several virtual and hybrid events in celebration of Latinx History Month which runs from September to October 15th. The events are brought to life by the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and include a virtual panel discussion on Latinx Culture over Zoom, a live concert at the Boro Pit, motivational speaker Andres Lara, and more. In State News, the Pennsylvania General Assembly gave unanimous consent to an extension of Governor Tom Wolf’s state of emergency over damage caused by tropical storm Ida until October 27th. The authority for the assembly to extend or end a declared state of emergency was granted through a constitutional amendment passed during the primary election in May. This is the first time the assembly approved an extension and two other long running states of emergency for COVID-19 and the Opioid Crisis were ended through a vote and by lack of action respectively.
