Cranberry Festival returns next weekend for its 20th annual event held by the Venango County Chamber of Commerce. This year’s free festival will be held at the Cranberry Mall on Saturday, September 18th, from 11AM to 4PM. Activities include the car and motorcycle show, paint the car, the chalk walk, karaoke, live music by High Above 80, and much more. UPMC’s clinical trials on a new treatment for COVID-19 are showing promise. Researchers from University of Pittsurgh are about to begin phase two of their research project on monoclonal antibody treatments after phase one indicated they may be able to reduce hospitalizations and deaths in patients. The second trial is to test the antibody treatments against variants of the SARS Cov2 virus.

Governor Tom Wolf has asked President Joe Biden to declare a major disaster declaration in several Pennsylvania Counties following the damage caused by the remains of hurricane Ida passing through the state. Initial figures indicate at least $117 million in damage were caused by the storm and more than 400 homes were destroyed by tornadoes and flooding. Governor Wolf seeks assistance for Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery, and York Counties as well as hazard mitigation to be available statewide.
