An 11 year old boy was taken into custody by State Police after allegedly slashing a 15 year old girl with a serrated knife during an argument. The girl suffered what was described as a large, deep, laceration to her hand as she pushed the boy away when he made stabbing motions with the knife toward her torso. The boy was taken to Pathways Adolescent Center and faces charges including aggravated assault.

 

Congratulations to Shawn Morelli for winning Team USA’s first medal in the Paralympics. Shawn is a Northwest Pennsylvania native making her second appearance in the Paralympics and placed silver in the women’s C4 3,000 meter individual pursuit race to win the first medal for the United States. She won gold in the same event at Rio in 2016.

After the CDC recommended universal mask wearing to protect students in Public Schools from COVID-19, Governor Tom Wolf asked the legislature to convene and make it happen in Pennsylvania by approving a measure to mandate masks, but both House and Senate leadership have declined to resume meetings of the General Assembly before September 27th. House Speaker Bryan Cutler made a statement about believing it’s in the best interest for local communities to make their own decisions regarding mask usage. Only 59 of the 474 school districts in the state have mask usage as part of their COVID-19 plan.
