Authorities in Crawford County confirmed that one man was injured during last Thursday’s tornado in Wayne Township. The driver of a tractor trailer suffered some minor injuries when his rig was picked up by high winds surrounding the tornado as it touched down a few minutes south of Mt. Hope. The vehicle and its driver were thrown across route 173 and landed in a field on the west side of the roadway. The storm system which spawned the tornado in Crawford County shortly before 1PM is also being blamed for tornadoes across the state on Thursday, with touchdowns in Fayette, Lehigh, and Indiana Counties; Northeast Philadelphia; and and three tornadoes in Bucks County including an EF-3 storm which is one of the strongest in state history.
Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced yesterday that his office was able to win $500,000 in restitution for victims of Harbor Portfolio Capital, LLC, and its leader Charles Vose III. Vose used Texas based Harbor Portfolio to sell uninhabitable homes at inflated prices and illegal interest rates in Pennsylvania and other states. Homes sold by Vose’s company were often uninhabitable by Pennsylvania law and many didn’t include heat or even appliances and they were also sold at interest rates that were as high as twice the legal amount. Victims of Harbor Portfolio and Charles Vose III can contact the Attorney General’s office to claim a piece of the settlement.
