The Pennsylvania State Police did not release the name of a 49 year old Townville man who was arrested after allegedly leading troopers on a vehicular pursuit through two counties in an attempt to avoid a traffic stop. The pursuit started Monday evening on Faucetown Road in Crawford County’s Troy township and ended at a closed bridge on White Road in Jackson Township, Venango County. The suspect attempted to flee one foot at the closed bridge, but was quickly apprehended. According to the press release he faces charges for fleeing and eluding police, drug and paraphernalia possession, and more.


As a reminder free lunches are available to children under 18 years of age at locations all around Crawford County throughout the summer. The effort is sponsored by Crawford Central School District in partnership with the USDA’s Food Service Program and runs until August 13th. Lunches are available Monday and Thursday from 11Am to 1PM at Meadville Senior High School, Second District Elementary, and Cochranton Junior/Senior High. Lunches are also available through mobile distribution on the following schedule: Bethany United Methodist Church in Meadville’s 5th Ward from 11AM to 1PM; Roche Park from 11 to 11:30AM; Forest Green Estates from 12 to 12:20PM; Huidekoper Park from 12:25 to 12:45PM; Morgan Village from 12:50 to 1:10PM. Christ Episcopal Church by Diamond Park in Meadville has meals on Wednesdays only from 10:15 to 11:45AM.


According to statistics from WalletHub unemployment claims in Pennsylvania are down by 19.81% of last year, but that is the third smallest decrease in the entire United States. The unemployment rate in Pennsylvania is lower than the national average at about 7.1%, but WalletHub ranks Pennsylvania in the bottom half of states at recouping job losses, putting it in 26th place. About 450,000 Pennsylvanians are currently collecting unemployment insurance payments. Work search requirements for collecting unemployment in PA were suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but resume on Sunday, July 18th.
