Rain slick roads are blamed for a crash that hospitalized a Ripley, New York man in Erie County. Crash scene investigators say that at about 11PM on Monday night a man named David Baum was not wearing a helmet when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson Streetglide on wet roads and was injured when his bike slid into a ditch.

After a confirmation vote on Wednesday the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s Board of Governors has given its final confirmation to the West Integration plan which would see a merger of Edinboro, Clarion, and California Universities. The board also approved the Northeast Integration plan which would unite Bloomsberg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield Universities. In a letter to students, staff, and the media, President of Both Clarion and Edinboro, Dr. Dale-Elizabeth Perhsson, called it a bold move forward; she also assured students that their academic options would remain the same and new and exciting opportunities were on the horizon.

In State News a three month long labor strike between steel workers and Allegheny Technologies Incorporated has ended after union members ratified a new contract and have promised to return to work next week. The four year contract included a $7,000 bonus to be paid over the life of the contract and a 3% raise in pay every year.
