The Franklin City Police Department has revealed the successful tracking and arrest of Aarien Carvallo, who was hiding from authorities to avoid charges of strangulation and several misdemeanors from an incident in March. Carvallo was tracked to a hotel room that he had convinced someone else to rent for him and arrested shortly before 6PM yesterday evening. He was placed in Venango County Jail and denied bail by reason of being a flight risk. FPD credits anonymous tips for helping close the investigation.
In our region two projects were granted hundreds of thousands of dollars from the $15.6 million Green Light Go program. Conneaut Lake received $220,000 for modernizing traffic signals on Water Street and Sheffield Township in Warren County was granted more than $108,000 to improve lights at the intersection of three highways.
In State news the stage is being set for another legal battle over last year’s presidential elections as State Senator Doug Mastriano is attempting to use his position as Chair of the Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee to subpoena three of Pennsylvania’s largest counties for voting records. The Pennsylvania Department of State is urging York, Tioga, and Philadelphia Counties not to agree to the senator’s requests in order to protect the confidential information of their residents and Attorney General Josh Shapiro has already made remarks about being prepared to defend the counties and the State Department should an actual subpoena be issued.
