TRI COUNTY REPORT FOR JULY 6TH, 2021

A Volant teen was killed in a one vehicle accident in Springfield Township on Saturday. According to State Police 21 year old Russell Cyphert was westbound on Brent Road when he traveled off the roadway and struck a tree. Police said the vehicle then overturned. A passenger in the car 17 year old Dylan Emory was pronounced dead at the scent. Cyphert was taken to St.Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown. Another passenger was taken to Allegheny Health in Grove City.

Pennsylvania State Police continue their search this week searching for a man accused of multiple sex crimes.  Tyler Bowen is facing charges of rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse of children and a long list of other accusations.  Troopers say that Bowen was last seen in the New Castle area.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call state police.

The New Castle News is reporting a 36 year old man has been charged with aggravated indecent assault of a child in connection with an alleged incident involving a 5-year-old boy. Alexander Ray Miller of Scott Township is also being charged with unlawful contact with a minor,and indecent assault on a person less than 13. The alleged incident took place back on May 27th. Miller was arraigned and placed in the Lawrence County Jail on 25 thousand dollars bond.

COVID-19 cases are slightly increasing in Pennsylvania.  The state’s Department of Health reported almost one-hundred new positive cases yesterday.  There have now been more than one-million-213-thousand confirmed positive cases in the state since the beginning of the pandemic.  Officials announced yesterday that about 63-percent of the population has received at least one dose of the vaccination. Lawrence County has 7,701 cases and 216 fatalities.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is warning residents of poor air quality today. Officials say a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for ozone is being issued Beaver and Butler counties. This means there will be unhealthy pollution levels for sensitive groups of people today. Young children, the elderly and people with respiratory problems like asthma, bronchitis and emphysema should limit outdoor activities.

State Police in Butler County report a Portersville man was flown to a Pittsburgh Hospital following a motorcycle accident. Police said 27 year old Nicholas Krizmanich lost control of the motorcycle on route 488 and overturned. Krizmanich was flown to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment. A passenger was not hurt.

Firemen in Mercer County were hurt battling a two alarm garage fire late Sunday night. WFMJ-TV reports several fire departments were called out to the 800 block of Mercer Road in Delaware Township shortly before 11 p.m. The first firefighter to arrive reported that flames had spread through the garage that contained several propane tanks. Less than a half-hour after the fire was reported, one of the tanks exploded injuring two firefighters. A Stoneboro firefighter was taken to an emergency room for treatment of an injured eardrum. The cause remains under investigation.

A Sharon woman was taken to the hospital following a two vehicle accident on Sunday night. The accident took place on Route 7 in Brookfield Ohio. The Sharon Herald reports that 48 year old Patricia Whalen of Sharon crossed the center line and struck a vehicle operated by 66 year old Samuel Miller of Warren, Ohio. Both drivers were taken to St.Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown for treatment. The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
