Both eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near the Ohio border in Mercer County had to be closed when a semi truck collided with a PennDOT vehicle that was part of a line painting operation. Shortly after noon yesterday (Wednesday, April 28th) the driver of a Freightliner failed to switch lanes for the painting crew and collided with a sign truck. The Freightliner continued, swerving through the work zone before rolling onto its side and blocking both lanes of traffic. The Pennsylvania State Police reported no injuries from the crash, but it did hold up interstate traffic for more than 3 hours.

 

There are only precious few days left to register to vote for the May 18th primary election. Crawford County United is hosting a “Get out the Vote” rally at Diamond Park in Meadville to help people get registered. On Saturday, May 1st from 11AM to 1PM the CCU Hellbenders will be hosting the event as a small block party emceed by Journey Brown. Candidates for the Mayor of Meadville, Meadville City Council, and Crawford Central Schoolboard will be in attendance at the event which includes free food, live music, and games. Meadville Medical Center has a new Chief Medical Officer. MMC congratulated its own Dr. Kevin Kraeling on social media yesterday for the promotion. According to the center’s website, Dr. Kraeling has risen through the ranks as an emergency medicine specialist who did his studies in Erie and has been with the hospital since his residency.
