The City of Franklin Police Department is reporting the arrest of Jeremy Shawgo of Franklin on charges of reckless endangerment, simple assault, and fleeing and eluding arrest. An FPD officer allegedly witnessed Shawgo drive toward a City Water Department employee directing traffic, then driving through the work zone, and leading FPD on a chase at 120 miles per hour through town. According to a report by the FPD officer at the work zone they Witnessed Shawgo pull up near the Water Department employee as they were signaled to stop and then he began to rev his engine before accelerating directly toward the employee which forced them to dive out of the way to avoid being hit. Shawgo then allegedly drove through the intersection of 8th and Liberty Streets and lead the officer on a chase through town, at times reaching speeds of around 120 miles per hour before the pursuit was abandoned. Jeremy Shawgo was arrested later that same day and is being held in Venango County Jail without bail.


Authorities have revealed the identity of the victim killed in a crash on Thursday April 8th in Crawford County. A 34 year old man named Jamie Higley of Union City died when the SUV he was a passenger in collided with a Mack Truck at the intersection of King and Rockdale Roads in Bloomfield Township.  In Erie County it’s reported that 71 year old Charles Luden of Erie is dead after a Sunday morning crash in Venango Township. Crash scene investigators say Charles drove off the side of Route 8 and collided head on with a tree at about 9AM. A deputy County Coroner pronounced his death at the scene.


Meadville Medical Center has scheduled four more COVID-19 vaccine clinics at the old Peeble’s store in the Park Avenue Plaza of Meadville. The clinics will be for the Pfizer vaccine and are scheduled for April 14th, 16th, 21st, and 23rd. In Venango County PennDOT has closed off the southbound lane of Route 8 from the intersection with Polk Cutoff in Sandycreek Township to the intersection with Old Route 8 in Irwin Township for a project to reconstruct the entire lane. The closure is expected to remain in place until September.
