As we provide our weekly COVID-19 and Flu update, nearly 4 million Pennsylvanian’s have received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine. More than 2.5 million PA residents are now partially vaccinated while another 1.4 million plus have been fully inoculated. Data from the PA Department of Health shows that Crawford and Erie Counties are ahead of the curve in administering first doses of vaccines. Over the last week the state has identified 18,253 new confirmed or plausible cases of COVID-19 bringing the state total to 976,847 and a death toll of 24,706 Pennsylvanians; 1,486 patients are currently hospitalized and nearly 900,000 patients are considered recovered. Influenza numbers remain extremely low, 2,991 confirmed cases have led to 38 hospital admissions and 15 deaths.
A Titusville man was allegedly caught by State Police red-handed in the middle of a theft. According to state troopers based in Franklin, 47 year old Joseph Feely of Titusville was caught attempting to steal parts off of a motor vehicle after they responded to a call about a theft in progress in Cranberry Township, Venango County. He has been charged with theft from a motor vehicle and other crimes and released on bail.
In Mercer County, authorities are investigating thefts worth hundreds of dollars in not one, but two stores located in the Grove City Outlets mall. On Wednesday, February 10th, investigators from the Pennsylvania State Police in Mercer began looking into the theft of about $7,000 worth of merchandise from Coach Outlet; a group of suspects broke into the closed store and took a double zip wallet, an Anna foldover crossbody clutch, an accordian zip wristlet, double zip wristlet, Hutton belt bag, Hutton shoulder bag with qualiting, double zip wallet in signature canvas, and a double zip pebble leather wristlet.
On Wednesday, March 17th a man stole two rings he had been allowed to view by a store employee and snatched a third from their hands before running away. All three rings were described as a Leo solitaire white gold ring, two had round diamonds and the third has a squared diamond.
The deadline to file both federal and state income tax information has been moved up by more than a month. The deadlines for both state and federal tax forms is now Monday, May 17th.
