Mercer County Authorities believe 33 year old Erin Wedge of Sharon was under the influence of opioids when she was involved in a crash that hospitalized a man at the intersection New Bedford Road, Wheaton Road, and Main Street in West Middlesex. According to crash scene investigators from the Mercer County State Police, Wedge drove through a stop sign on Wheaton and collided head on with a local man who was making a left turn onto main street and then collided with a mailbox and a parked car, causing her to become entrapped. Emergency responders from McGonigal Ambulance used the drug Narcan on Wedge after she had to be cut out of her vehicle. The local man was taken to Sharon Regional Hospital under the suspicion he had suffered major injuries.

 

In Venango County the Franklin State Police are searching for information on a pair of stolen firearms. A Sig Sauer semi-automatic pistol, model unspecified, and a Remington Fieldmaster 30-06 with an attached scope were stolen from the Cranberry Township property of a 36 year old Corsica man. In state news, Pennsylvania’s Capitol Building in Harrisburg is set to reopen to the public on Monday, March 22nd. The Capitol Building was closed in December during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Visitors will need to pass through a metal detector, wear a mask, and social distance while there.
