This Saturday, March 6th is Black Balloon Day. Black Balloon Day is a memorial for those lost to the disease of opioid addiction. The Pennsylvania Department of Health recorded more than 140 drug overdose deaths in Northwest Pennsylvania last year and around 4,000 across the state. In recognition of the lives taken and families destroyed by the opioid epidemic participants attach a black balloon to their homes or businesses and this year a memorial service will be held in Meadville’s Diamond Park at 5PM. Black balloons can be obtained at No Place Like Home Decor on Liberty Street.
