PA Careerlink of Oil City will soon be opening for person to person appointments for those who cannot connect with them virtually. Beginning next week on Monday, March 8th job seekers can schedule appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8AM to 11:30AM and 1PM to 4:30 PM with staff inside Careerlink’s Oil City office, though unemployment courtesy phones will not be available and the Erie office remains closed to the public. Careerlink is also able to be contacted on Skype, Facetime, and Teletypewriter. The Oil City office can be called at (814)678-5050 and Careerlink can be reached toll free at (844)333-5248.

 

At the direction of Majority Leader of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Kerry Benninghoff, the House Government Oversight Committee will be investigating the handling of nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. More than half of all COVID-19 deaths in the state have been in nursing homes and other elder care facilities and lawmakers want to investigate the Wolf Administration’s policy of returning diagnosed COVID patients from hospitals to nursing homes. Acting Health Secretary Allison Beam testified at a recent budget hearing that returning diagnosed COVID patients to their nursing homes was based on Federal guidelines.
