In Erie County water rescue teams recovered the body of a 70 year old man and two dogs from a pond in Fairview Township on Monday. According to a press release David Chivers of Girard was attempting to rescue a pair of dogs that became stranded in a partially frozen pond by rowing to them in a kayak when it capsized. It has not been determined if the cause of death was drowning or hypothermia, but the death of David Chivers and his pets is considered accidental.

 

Edinboro University has been awarded it’s 12th consecutive honor for providing education to military veterans and their families. Earlier this month the school was recognized by receiving a silver distinction for small public universities from Military Friendly Schools.

 

In State News, Pennsylvania is a step closer to getting aid from the National Guard when it comes to the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. A bill which would permit the use of the National Guard to handle logistical concerns for the distribution of the vaccines passed unanimously in the Senate Veteran’s Affairs and Emergency Management Committee yesterday.
