An Erie County woman was transported to UPMC Hamot for evaluation after a collision with a snowplow in Crawford County on Monday night. Crash scene investigators say Christina Cimentato of Girard was traveling home through Hayfield Township on Route 98 at about 10PM when she collided with the back of a PennDOT plow truck that had stopped to shift its load of salt.


Local and state police forces are investigating multiple claims of unemployment compensation fraud in the Northwest Pennsylvania region. During the COVID-19 pandemic incidences of fraud of all types have been on the rise, especially fraudulent unemployment claims using other people’s personal information. Acting Pennsylvania Secretary of Labor and Industry Jennifer Berrier says the recent extension of federal unemployment benefits has increased the risk of fraud. Claimants seeking unemployment benefits should be careful to protect personal information such as their social security numbers. One way, according to the acting secretary, is to remember that someone contacting you from Labor and Industry will never ask for personal information and you should end communication with anyone who does.
