The Sugarcreek Police Department has released details about an incident where a van crashed into a house. According to an officer on scene it was about 11:45PM when a woman hit a guide rail while driving along Shaffer Run Road, and then was sent airborn by a pile of railroad ties, finally colliding with the porch of a house and penetrating into its basement. None of the home’s occupants were injured, but the van’s driver was extracted and sent to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries while the family had to be evacuated from their home. In addition to Sugarcreek PD elements from the Reno, Rocky Grove, Oakland, and Oil City Fire Departments were all at the scene.
With the approval and signing of Pennsylvania’s own COVID-19 spending bill, Secretary of Community and Economic Development Dennis Davin discussed some of the finer points of the Hospitality Industry Recovery Program. According to Secretary Davin, $145 million will be distributed among all of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties to provide grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 to bars, hotels, and restaurants. The hospitality industry has been the hardest sector hit by the pandemic and related shutdowns.
