More details are available from the homicide case in Erie County. 51 year old Jeffery David Briggs of Crawford County has been charged for the murder of 48 year old John Robinson of Union City. Briggs was taken into custody as a person of interest shortly after the shooting and now faces charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and more. He’s been remanded to Erie County Prison without bail.

 

The Meadville Family YMCA was the recipient of a $5,000 donation from Meadville based Optical Filters USA to help with the free meals program and the Y’s fight against food insecurity in Crawford County. With help from companies like Optical Filters USA the YMCA has been able to provide over 1,000 meals from its locations in Linesville and Meadville’s Fifth Ward. Edinboro University’s art program is gaining an international footprint as students and staff from the school are participating in an international art exhibition. The exhibition entitled Crafts in the Air is an international virtual exhibition hosted in Bangkok Thailand and features over 100 artists from around the world; it runs until the 25th of February.

 

State Representative Brad Roae who represents Crawford and Erie Counties has been reappointed by the Speaker of the House to serve on the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors. The PASSHE manages and oversees Pennsylvania’s Universities and this will be his second two year term on the board.

 

In State News, a High School Football Coach and Police Cadet from the Pittsburgh area was arrested for trafficking in cocaine. Branndon Pezzelle Sr. was found in possession of more than a kilogram of cocaine and $76,000 cash. The 36 year old Pezzelle was a member of the Allegheny County Police Academy and coached football at Taylor Allderdice High School.
