In an open letter to the community that was published on social media Sunday, President and CEO of Meadville Medical Center Philip Pandolf provided an update on the progress of COVID-19 vaccinations in the first month of distribution. As of the publishing of the letter Crawford County was #2 in the state of Pennsylvania for per capita distribution of vaccines. 5% of Crawford County Residents had received at least the first course of immunization, representing about 5,600 individuals, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health lists just over 1,000 as fully vaccinated on its website. The letter reminds people that vaccine supplies are currently very limited and are being provided based on the schedule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Pennsylvania’s vaccination schedule is a multifaceted two-phased plan, with Phase One consisting of three priority groups and Phase Two being a general release for vaccinations. Most of the state is still in Phase 1A which focuses on healthcare professionals. For more information visit health.PA.gov.
