Pennsylvania Secretary of Health, Dr. Rachel Levine, has issued an order to suspend alcohol sales on the biggest drinking night of the year. In an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19 Secretary Levine issued an order preventing all restaurants and bars from selling alcohol for onsite consumption beginning at 5PM Wednesday November 25th. Establishments are still allowed to sell cans of beer and bottles of wine to go, but not allowed to serve customers who want to drink on the premises. Governor Tom Wolf says that he understands bars and restaurants have been particularly hard hit by the Pandemic and that he is advocating for financial assistance, but we cannot ignore that gatherings at eating and drinking establishments speed up the transmission of COVID-19. The order follows an announcement by CDC they recorded nearly 200,000 new cases of COVID on Friday.
