According to PennDOT, construction on the Shenango Valley Roundabout in Mercer County is complete. The new roundabout is located in Hermitage by the three way intersection that serves as an entrance to the Shenango Valley Mall.
Pennsylvania has reached grim new COVID-19 milestones within the last week. Friday, November 6th saw the largest increase in new cases to date when 3,894 individuals were confirmed to be infected with the SARS CoV2 virus and more than 3,000 people per day have been testing positive since November 4th. The death toll has also reached a new level, exceeding 9,000 human lives over the weekend. There is some good news too; the pharmaceutical company Pfizer has announced it is ready to seek FDA approval for its version of a COVID-19 vaccine that they say is proving to be at least 90% effective in preventing infections. Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine called the news encouraging, but remarked that the Pfizer vaccine requires storage in very cold temperatures that some hospitals may not be able to maintain.
Pennsylvania State Representative Lee James will be offering veteran outreach hours at his office in Seneca one week from today on November 17th. An accredited field service officer from the American Legion will be on hand from 10AM until 2PM to help veterans and their families make claims for the benefits they are due through the Veterans Administration. Northwest Pennsylvania is expected to break a weather record today with high temperatures in the vicinity of 75 degrees The average high temperature on November 10th is about 52 degrees and the previous record high sits at 68.
