A prominent Meadville Area citizen and attorney passed away. At the age of 75, Theodore Watts, better known as Ted, died of complications from COVID-19 at St. Vincent’s Hospital on Halloween. Ted served on many boards and committees in Crawford County including Chairman of the Thurston Classic from 1988 until his death and he is survived by three children and four grandchildren. Friends and family ask that in lieu of flowers or condolences people should donate to the University of Pittsburgh’s COVID-19 Vaccine, John Hopkins COVID Research Project, or the Thurston Classic.

 

Today is election day! 2020 is  Presidential election year between Incumbent republican President Donald Trump and his Democratic Challenger Joe Biden; Libertarian candidate Jo Jorganson is also on the national ballot, and many other offices are being contested too. Other elections include the statewide offices of Attorney General, Auditor General, and State Treasurer. Pennsylvanian’s will also be voting for their state and federal representatives. Nearly 2.5 million Pennsylvania residents have voted early his year, but lines are still expected to form at some polling places. For those voting in person polls open at 7Am and remain open until 8PM, the Pennsylvania Department of State asks that you please wear a mask, practice at least six feet of social distancing, and bring your own blue or black pen with you.

If you are showing up at your polling place for the first time you must provide some form of identification, a government issued photo ID such as a driver’s license is preferred, but you may also furnish other forms of ID such as a voter registration card, a firearm permit, current utility bill, or current paycheck is also acceptable. Mail in ballots must be postmarked by 8PM tonight and will only be counted if they arrive at your county election office by Friday.
