The Pennsylvania State Police report a vehicular pursuit and officer involved shooting in Erie on Sunday morning. According to the Pennsylvania State Police based in Erie, 19 year old Marquelle Goodwine fled from a trooper after they attempted a speeding stop on Interstate 79 and then abandoned his car on Lindberg Avenue to flee on foot. The trooper followed as Goodwine allegedly threw objects at them in an attempt to get away and the officer was unable to stop him with their taser. It’s also alleged that Goodwine produced a firearm during the foot chase, prompting the officer to fire and strike Goodwine once in his hand. The shooting is being investigated by the Millcreek Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police Major Crimes and Internal Affairs Divisions, and Erie County District Attorney Jack Daneri. Marquelle Goodwine was treated for a minor injury and has been charged with crimes related to the pursuit, possessing a stolen firearm, and drug possession.
