In the interest of safety the Erie chapter of the Manufacturing and Business Association has postponed their 115th annual event for the year of 2020, opting instead to delay it by one year and hold the 115th event at the Bayfront Convention Center on October 13th of 2021. Tomorrow’s Candidate Forum with Heather Heidelbaugh, the Republican nominee for Pennsylvania attorney general, will still take place, but is only open to members of the MBA board and Policy Committee.

 

United States Senator for Pennsylvania, Patrick Toomey has decided he will not be running for reelection in 2022, nor will he run for governor. Senator Toomey will have spent 18 years in government service, six in the house of representatives, and 12 in the Senate, by the time of his retirement from public office.

 

Governor Tom Wolf is expected to sign PA House Bill 1984 which passed the Senate through unanimous consent on Monday and changes laws to protect women who are the victims of rape. HB 1984 changes current Pennsylvania Law, allowing women who become pregnant to terminate the parental rights of their rapist without having to find an adoptive family for their child.
