Pennsylvania Secretary of Labor and Industry Jerry Oleksiak announced earlier this week that the commonwealth has received a federal grant to administer the extra $400 per week from the temporary Lost Wages Assistance program which came into existence August 8th. The LWA program is not a true unemployment insurance program and is funded by disaster relief money from FEMA. For this reason, payments to eligible individuals will be delayed as states, including Pennsylvania, create new systems or processes.
