TRI COUNTY REPORT FOR JULY 20TH, 2020

Investigators say a 90-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after a two-car crash in Grove City earlier this month.  It happened July 9th after police say the woman ran a stop sign on Carrie Way near George Junior Road.  Her vehicle struck a second vehicle, and she was taken to the hospital for treatment.  No one else was hurt.

A man accused of shooting two people outside a Farrell club turned himself in Friday. According to the Sharon Herald 19 year old DeShawn Richardson is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, reckless endangerment and assault. Police said he was involved in a gunfight June 27 outside the Farrell Sportsman’s Club on Emerson Ave. Another suspect, 25 year old Jonell Goudy faces similar charges. Richardson was arraigned and placed in the Mercer County Jail on 500 thousand dollars bond.

Investigators are identifying the man killed in what is being called a homicide in Hopewell Township.  Vincent Barbuto was found dead at his home on the 24-hundred-block of Hopewell Township late Wednesday night.  The Beaver County Coroner says the 29-year-old died from a gunshot wound to the chest.  Police did search the home of the victim’s brothers, Frank and Michael Barbuto, on Friday morning in Center Township, but so far no charges have been filed.

A native of Volant has been arrested on charges connected to the death of a man involving drugs. Grove City Police say 32-year-old Brandon Bowers will face charges including Murder of the Third Degree, Drug Delivery Resulting in Death, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, along with additional charges. The charges are in connection with the death of 33 year old Michael Herndon in July of last year.

Traffic is moving freely on the Pennsylvania Turnpike this morning after a crash closed part of the highway for hours.  State police say a tractor-trailer slammed into a van last night near Mount Pleasant.  The driver of the van was airlifted to a hospital after being trapped in the wreckage.  There’s no word on his condition.

Pennsylvania Health officials are adding 786 new COVID-19 cases to Commonwealth’s overall total.  That brings P-A to 101-thousand-72 confirmed or probable cases since the start of the pandemic.  Sunday’s announcement also added eight more deaths related to coronavirus complications Sunday, with the statewide death toll rising to seven-thousand-15. Lawrence County added five new cases over the weekend and now has 226 cases and nine deaths.

Health officials in Allegheny County are adding 138 more COVID-19 cases to its countywide total.  That brings the county to 62-hundred-63 confirmed or probable cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.  There was one additional death reported Sunday, with the county’s death toll due to coronavirus complications rising to 208.

Seniors at Mars Area High School will not have a prom this year because of COVID-19 concerns.  School officials recently canceled the dance, saying they can’t guarantee a safe event.  Mars Area’s prom was first scheduled for May, then rescheduled for late last month before the cancelation.

A man from Ross Township is accused of giving a teen girl drugs in exchange for sex.  Justin Sircely was arrested Friday after the Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force was alerted to the allegations of an inappropriate relationship with the juvenile on July 14th.  It’s believed the 26-year-old first contacted the girl three years ago when she was 14.  Sircely allegedly threatened and coerced the girl to not tell her parents about their relationship.
