There has been another extension for Pennsylvania State ID cards, driver’s licenses, and learner’s permits. Any of these items with an expiration date between March 16th and June 30th has now been extended until July the 31st. The state is hoping to mitigate some of the long lines in Driver’s License and Photo Centers as people attempt to get their new documents by the deadline. Please remember all centers will be closed on the July 4th holiday.

 

Expanded unemployment benefit periods begin soon for some of the first people to lose work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Individuals and families that have exhausted their regular unemployment and the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation benefits should shortly be receiving information on the availability and eligibility for an additional 9 to 13 weeks of expanded unemployment. Other unemployment claims are still being processed as the Pennsylvania Department of Labor struggles to catch up to a backlog of claims despite increasing their staff size by 80%.
