Last night President Donald Trump added Pennsylvania to the growing number of states recognized by the federal government as affected by a major disaster. Declaring a major disaster gives Pennsylvania access to a greater pool of resources through FEMA and makes federal funds available to certain nonprofits and municipal governments. In less than four weeks, from March 6th to March 31st cases of COVID-19 have ballooned from 2 to over 4,000; the majority of cases are for healthy individuals between 25 and 49 years old.
In the city of Meadville, tomorrow’s City Council Meeting is going to be held remotely so as to comply with the Department of Health and CDC recommendations against public gatherings of more than 10 people. The meeting’s agenda is posted online at CityofMeadville.org and the meeting itself is to be live streamed over Facebook on the Meadville City Manager’s Facebook page. Meadville Medical Center has extended the hours of its Fllu Clinic at Meadville Community Health Center on 640 Alden Street to cover weekends.
